Working House Fire 43 Box

February 8, 2010 St. Michaels Fire Department along with Tilghman (St. 70), Easton (St. 60) and Talbot County Department of Emergency Services P-97 were alerted for a Working House Fire in the area of Sewell Point Road Wittman in the 43 Box. Chief 40 (Patrick) arrived on location and confirmed heavy smoke showing from all sides. Engine 49 along with Tanker 74 arrived on location and placed attack lines in service for interior attack. Interior crews encountered heavy fire and smoke, as well as extreme heat conditions. Units performed extensive overhaul at the residence for approximately 3 hours before command placed situation under control. One Firefighter sustained 2nd Degree Burns to the Ear and Neck was transported to Easton Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released. Oxford Fire Department was transferred to St. Michaels area for duration of call.
